The Iroquois Neighborhood Bridging Banquet for Girl Scouts took place May 12 at Sycamore Hills in Macomb Township. The banquet honored local Girl Scouts who earned promotions, also know as bridging, to the next rank.

The top honor of the evening went to Elizabeth Walker of Clinton Township, who received the Silver Award for her work with Operation Quiet Comfort, a group that supports American troops stationed overseas. The Four Freedoms Gratitude Quilt was part of her project.

Macomb County Commissioner Carey Torrice of Clinton Township addressed the crowd, giving her young audience words of encouragement to try their best in life and keep learning. She also congratulated Walker on her achievement. Torrice said all the Girl Scouts should be proud of their accomplishments and continue to try to be the best they can be.
