It looks like Allen Park won’t be the only Detroit suburb with a movie studio. Another $20 million complex will be coming to Macomb County. WDIV and The Macomb Daily report that 26 acres of vacant land in Clinton Township will be used for a 20,000-square-foot studio for film, television and other projects. Alex Greene, an executive producer with Clinton Township-based Vanir Entertainment, says he is working with the Michigan Executive Development Corporation, the Macomb County Film Office and Baker College to help build the studio. (No word on if part-time actress and Macomb County Commissioner Carey Torrice is involved with the project.) Greene, in sort of an ode to his last name, hopes for a environmentally-friendly studio that will be built on a geothermal energy grid. Baker College students are expected to be involved with the studio as well, according to WDIV. We’re telling these kids coming in, take your classes here, intern across the street and get noticed in the industry so you can get yourself a full-time job. Beautiful, Clinton Township Superviser Robert Cannon said.
