District 16 (northern Clinton Township): First-term incumbent Democrat CAREY TORRICE, who upset former Commissioner William Revoir in 2006, merits advancing to the general election. Torrice, 31, an actress and licensed private detective, has supported a county executive proposal and successfully pushed a plan to make the Macomb County Animal Shelter a no-kill facility. She is working to bring movie productions to Macomb. Her Democratic opponent, Gerald Kieliszewski, 50, a direct marketing consultant, has not held political office and opposes the county executive plan.
