Animal shelters are seeing an increase in pure-breed animals either being picked up as strays or dropped off by their owners. About 25% of shelter dogs are thought to be pure bred. Persians – and with them Himalayans – are the #1 breed turned in to shelters.

A lot of people are unaware that you can find a purebred dog at the local animal shelter, humane society, or dog pound. This is a great way to get one of the “designer” breeds like a Labradoodle, Yorkie or a Lhasa-poo for a fraction of the cost. Plus you will feel great because you have saved an animal’s life.

For some reason it is not common knowledge that you can walk in to the shelter and find a pure breed. Many people simply think the only dogs they will find there are mutts. I have no idea why this is the case. Breed rescues pull dogs from shelters every single day all over the country, and many are left behind because they have no room for them.

Buy a PURE BRED Yorkie or Himalayan at a shelter and you’ll save $100’s!
