MACOMB COUNTY, Mich. — A Macomb County woman voted one of the “hottest politicians” in the country found herself in hot water Thursday night.
Carey Torrice, a Macomb County Commissioner was selected by TMZ and profiled on the entertainment show’s Web site. The site included provocative pictures taken from Torrice’s own Web site and several Macomb County residents complained about it Thursday. Another resident held up pictures taken from Torrice’s Web site and others in the audience cheered and jeered.A standing-room only crowd packed the meeting. Several residents said they were concerned about the county’s budget deficit and potential layoffs, and thought it was inappropriate for Torrice to allow a camera crew from an entertainment TV show to film her in the meeting.”Everything last night was a little out of hand,” Torrice said Friday. “People are coming to talk about layoffs and their pensions. It was bad timing.”Torrice also said she didn’t expect to see the questionable pictures from her Web site profiled by TMZ.”TMZ got ahold of these things and put the all on the site,” Torrice said. “I felt really bad for the people suffering right now and losing their jobs. It was just really bad timing (to have the TV crew there). My heart goes out to them.”
Macomb Co. Commissioner Makes Hottest List
Torrice’s provocative pictures from her political Web site were featured on the front page of TMZ.com and she will also be on ‘Inside Edition’ talking about her unique approach to politics.
Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin is considered by many to be the hot candidate and boosted McCain’s ticket after he choose her as his VP, but the Web site posted an online survey asking readers if they think Sen. Barack Obama should dump running mate Sen. Joe Biden for Torrice.
As of Thursday afternoon, 66 percent of readers said Obama should drop Biden for Torrice. Nearly 28,000 people voted for the model, actress and commissioner.
TMZ latched onto Torrice’s looks after she appeared on the ‘Maury Povich’ show last February with her husband Mike, who owns the Eye Spy private detective agency in Fraser.
The freshman commissioner’s Web site features Torrice at county board meetings, posing with elected officials, such as Mark Hackel and U.S. Sen. Debbie Stabenow, helping with roadside cleanup, working out at a local gym and posing in a scantily clad police uniform.
“Personally I thought it’s inappropriate,” said the former Macomb County Commissioner, Bill Revoir, who was ousted by Torrice in 2006.
Revoir implied Torrice is not taking her job seriously because she missed 25 of the last 100 commissioner meetings, according to Revoir.
Torrice is running for re-election. “I am not scared, I am ready,” she said.
